School Screening Inquiry

Balance to Bloom is passionate about supporting children to reach their potential in the classroom. The aim of our school screening service is to provide information to families and teachers about typical child development, an individual child’s strengths, and areas of support and to provide recommendations to assist a child in transitioning through school with success.

School screenings are tailored to a child’s age and year level and provide a snapshot of a child’s development. As part of our screening service, we provide schools and families the opportunity to raise concerns, complete a screening assessment and receive short feedback regarding a child’s skills. We take into consideration parent and teacher concerns to assess a child’s ability to complete fine motor, gross motor, and executive function tasks, in the context of the classroom environment and with expected social and emotional skills.

Children who take part in this screening will complete an approximately 30-minute child assessment and parents will receive a short report as well as recommendations based on observations. Balance to Bloom also provide a number of teacher handouts that provide simple tips and tricks for supporting children with additional needs in the busy classroom environment.

Please note screening is provided as opt-in to parents and will include a short parent and teacher questionnaire followed by approximately 30minute child assessment (2 children at a time). Parents will receive a short report as well as recommendations based on observations. Costs per child are $50 and screening may be funded by school or parents. Balance to Bloom believes that all children deserve to thrive and offer scholarship screenings to select schools based on need. Further teacher meetings or professional development can be provided on request.
